#115 The Unbundling
It's a brutal time for the Canadian television industry and it's about to get worse.

After March 1st, the CRTC is forcing television cable providers to offer consumers a “skinny basic” package capped at $25 or less. By the end of 2016, all specialty channels will be offered on a “pick and pay” basis. This new structure threatens to eliminate niche channels that have been supported by the bundling system, and in turn, will impact the amount of money spent on CANCON. VMedia Executive George Burger discusses the shifting landscape of Canadian television – from the internet, to cable and beyond.
